Last Tuesday, our club had another special meeting.  This time it was a field trip to the Interact Club at the Commack High School for a 2:15pm lunch and conversation.  Many slices of pizza were eaten and exciting ideas exchanged, as we learned about each other's projects, accomplishments, plans and goals.  Both the current and incoming presidents of both clubs were present, and briefed each other on the current projects underway, as well as those planned for the future.

The students were provided with information on Rotary's study abroad and cultural exchange programs, were encouraged to participate in the End Hunger project the District is committing itself to.  Our club was advised by the students of their active involvement in food drives, coat drives, Special Olympics and a special needs Halloween dance.  We were also impressed with their club's gift of flip flops that they themselves had made, to women in Cambodia.  A gift made more impressive by the trip taken by two of their members to Cambodia, wherein they provided swimming and self defense life skills to young women escaping horrific lives.  It is precisely this kind of dedication to humanity that we as Rotarians attempt to nourish in the world, and these students are an inspiration for the future of our community.
